Dear God,
When disease again flexes its muscles
and the weather tears through our best laid plans,
when the present appears precarious
and the way ahead resembles a Houston freeway,
make our spirits as tough as Texas mesquite,
that gnarly ballet of tenacity,
not bowing,
not budging,
not breaking,
anchored by a stubborn taproot of intractable faith.
Amen
